Episode 30: Kate's Identity Crisis
This week I walk Jes and the squad through what’s been going on with me in my “identity crisis” as Nance calls it.
I’ve been hard at work over the past six months, questioning and feeling all the things. With the help of Nance (LITERALLY CANNOT RECOMMEND THERAPY ENOUGH) I’ve been processing a lot of my coping mechanisms and breaking them down to form new patterns.
This is apparently a big part of sobriety… and it has been uncomfortable and weird.
And overall, women receive a lot of messages about how we SHOULD be, (and think and feel). What if we ALL looked a little deeper into why we do the things we do. Because we’re supposed to?
Because we’re told this is the way it is? What if that doesn’t work for me?
We discuss Jes and her new life in Brooklyn, and how she’s creating a new identity for herself there. She walks me through some large changes she’s made. GUYS, SHE SO FUCKIN BRAVE.
Without the crutch of alcohol, there’s no barrier. When things are scary, you have to be present, and move through it.
Things Worth Mentioning:
Gary’s work has really helped me break down some of my concepts of self. This is pretty far into the woo woo / meta shit. You’ve been warned.
Enjoy❤️
