Episode 31: Marriage
Jes has been married, and I am currently married. We figured there was a LOT to cover.
Jes walks us through her marriage when she was basically a child bride (kidding). Lots of issues were caused by drinking between the two of them and eventually they split up. She and her husband definitely enabled one another, and ultimately they couldn’t work it out.
I tell the story of how I met my husband, yes at the bar. When we met, I was bartending and drinking….heavily. While we were dating I attempted sobriety for a year mostly because I wanted to be a better person or “good enough” for him. Sidenote; getting sober for someone else to “be good for them” isn’t something I’d recommend. You gotta get sober for yourself.
After I was done being sober, I went back to drinking and as my relationship got more serious…getting engaged…planning a wedding… the more my drinking escalated, and the situations got weirder and weirder.
Eventually, I found sobriety again, this time for me.
I talk about how hard it was (and sometimes still is) to get & stay sober in my marriage. As my husband and I work on our relationship, I’m able to be more open about my sobriety and struggles.
“No one has ever regretted not drinking” -Jes
TRUEEEEEEEE
Enjoy❤️
